In Taking Control 3, Paul Garvey draws on eleven years of inspection experience to guide readers through Ofsted inspections, with specific advice on the new Report Card Framework, introduced in November 2025.

Building on the success of the previous two books, this third volume helps school leaders develop the confidence, understanding, and practical skills needed to navigate the new areas assessed under the updated inspection model.

Part One provides a clear and concise overview of the Report Card Framework, highlighting both its similarities to and differences from the former Education Inspection Framework (EIF). Part Two introduces the new inspection commentary, which replaces the School Self-Evaluation Form (SEF). To support schools in this process, Paul presents a dialogic tool designed to help leaders construct a persuasive narrative around each inspection area and showcase their school's strengths in the most effective way possible.
