Description de l’éditeur

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière was a French playwright and actor who is considered to be one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature. Among Molière's best-known works are The Misanthrope, The School for Wives, Tartuffe, The Miser and The Bourgeois Gentleman.

Tartuffe, or The Impostor, or The Hypocrite ,first performed in 1664, is one of the most famous theatrical comedies by Molière. The characters of Tartuffe, Elmire, and Orgon are considered among the greatest classical theatre roles. «Tartuffe» is a smutty play about power, hypocrisy and trustfulness... «Tartuffe» is a play about that scoundrel. Hypocrisy is simply his lingua franca. His only crime is that he has been feasting on the entrails of an historical period in which a fellow like him could take up residence in the home of an aristocratic patriarch, and turn everything in it on its head.  Read this theatrical comedy in order to know why this play is so famous at any time!
