Ten years ago, on a remarkably clear and sunny September morning, two Boeing 767s buried themselves into the sides of World Trade Center Towers One and Two, the modernist icons of New York City. In Virginia, a Boeing 757 crashed into one of the Pentagon's five sides. And in a field in southwestern Pennsylvania, a Boeing 757-222 fell from the sky before making it to its intended target. The political, social and economic repercussions of those four plane crashes would carry through the decade that succeeded them with an impact as powerful as the ones that brought down the Twin Towers.
