The Boston Journalism Trail
Where American Journalism Started
Description de l’éditeur
On Sept. 25, 1690, at the corner of today’s Court and Washington streets in Boston, Benjamin Harris published a simple, two-column, 10-point-font, 6x10-inch four pager entitled PUBLICK OCCURRENCES, Both FORREIGN and DOMESTICK. It was the first newspaper in the American colonies and it was closed down by “the Governor and Council” four days later....This book traces the bond between American journalism and Boston, where the first three and five of the first seven American newspapers were published and where women and minorities also made journalism history.
