The Corncrake Chronicles

Imagine, if you will, if it’s at all possible, a town totally out of control. Might it ring a bell? If you can imagine such a place, then that’s the anywhere town of Barrup. A town ruled over by its worshipful Mayor Sidney Corncrake. And who are the ‘Sojourners’, of whom the worshipful Mayor is ‘Grand Wizard’? And what of the ‘feral yoof’, running amok around the town, or are they under the watchful eye of the town’s Mayor? The very reverend Alan Gown believes he too has a problem. That of the illicit and illegal brewing of ‘substances’ at the back of Saint Saviours, by the ‘ferals’. Enter Chief Inspector Douglas McTweedie, who believes he recognises the town’s Mayor, Sidney Corncrake, to be a ‘fiddler’ & a ‘crim’ and someone who must be brought to book. Mabel Tucker believes she has the answer. To ‘defrock’ the wily Corncrake at election time,where he all but totally destroys a colleague’s wedding.
