The Ghost Witch

A witch races against time to stop the end of the world in this sapphic fantasy adventure from the bestselling author of A Resistance of Witches . . .

Fiona McGann is on of the British Academy of Witches' best - a gifted traveller (she can journey halfway across the world in the blink of an eye) and since the end of World War II, she’s been instrumental in tracking down and capturing countless Nazi criminals across the globe. Now, she’s being sent on a new mission with, for her, the worst partner possible: Rebecca Gagne, a French Resistance fighter with whom she shares a complicated romantic past.

Their target is Agnes Vogel, an elusive, fanatical Nazi witch-scientist rumoured to be building a fiendish army of ulfheðnar - Viking wolf-warriors of legend. For Fiona and Rebecca it should be a routine track and capture. At first, the most difficult part is resisting the attraction they still feel towards one another, which only promises them both a world of fresh pain. But soon, they find themselves dangerously out of their depth - for Agnes is versed in a powerful, unfamiliar magic. Her ulfheðnar, bloodthirsty and relentless, prowl the forests and quickly, the two hunters become the hunted as the full, cataclysmic scope of Agnes’s ambitions are revealed.

Cursed, cut off from the Academy, and pursued by Agnes’s monstrous creations, Rebecca and Fiona have no choice but to put their faith in each other, and in Will Chapman - a British POW with haunted eyes and a wolf’s shadow, towardd whom Fiona feels an inexplicable connection.

To defeat Agnes, Fiona will have to set everything she thought she knew about magic - about herself - aside. For in her own past there lies a darkness that she has spent her whole life trying to forget. Now she must face it and accept it . . . or watch the world burn.
