Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was a British novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, travel writer, best known for her Gothic horror story “Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus”.

“The Last Man” is an apocalyptic science fiction novel, first published in 1826.  The action happens in twenty-first century and revolves around six characters, who survived after merciless plague. The novel depicts the relations of protagonists, set against the backdrop of a catastrophe which is inexorably exterminating humanity. It is notable, that the characters were partially copied from figures in Shelley's life, particularly Shelley's late husband Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron.

“The Last Man” is the classic example of Romantic literature, so you will undoubtedly derive pleasure, reading it.
