Description de l’éditeur

Robert Fallons’s latest book is a collection of twenty stories with connected poems and photos.

The book is formed of true stories based on five generations of Robert’s family – while fictionalised, are all based on family fact.

The Sassenach from Ireland takes us back to Ireland in the 1840s and tells us about the different generations of one family. The stories follow the family’s rise from the gutter to their sporting fame, tangled love and family affairs.

It also links to the life of the author, Robert Fallon, the grandson of the Sassenach of the title. Robert uses his own life experiences in The Sassenach from Ireland, some told through other characters.

‘The inspiration for this book was my grandfather, the Sassenach, whose courage determination, self discipline and sporting prowess were of a standard beyond belief,’ says Robert. ‘He was a truely remarkable man.’
