Description de l’éditeur

The Sky from Earth: Sun Farm is the second title of Frames of Sky from Earth, a series of multimedia interactive publications that capture the intersections of art, astronomy and architecture; digital media meet the spirit of the ancient interpretations of the sky, often illustrated in the celestial atlases, merging imagination with science in a poetic view of the cosmos.

The first publication of the series was Sky Spirals, released in 2013: a presentation of theoretical foundations for an understanding of reality expressed by human-made interventions in the landscape, embodying mathematical theories of the universe and system theory, not specific to any geographical place or specific site. Sky Spirals introduced multimedia content from public art proposals based on the spiral shape as a metaphor and literal expression of a link between remote and local places, virtual and geographic locations. The first application of Sky Spirals theories to a physical site is S.U.N.F.A.R.M. located in a 68-acre property in the Hudson Valley (New York, USA). S.U.N.F.A.R.M. is an acronym and portmanteau: Spacetime (Spiral System Survey) of Universe Nature in a Future Art Revolution (Mathematical) Movement: its ideation as virtual place dates back to the 1990s and its construction in a physical site started in 2001.

The video segments of The Sky from Earth: Sun Farm  are taken from the 2009 eponymous DVD and focuses specifically on S.U.N.F.A.R.M., which was then named Sun Farm: an essential documentation, not only of the actual landscape art fabrications, but also of the intentions and overall thought process behind the built interventions on the site realized in the period 2000-2009. A third title S.U.N.F.A.R.M. is planned for publication in late 2022. The works and ideas presented in this publications can be considered the first phase of a project, which because of its own nature, is constantly evolving. The constant of reality is change—and it is important to document it as part of the process.
