Children with a healthy self esteem feel good about themselves and are proud of what they can do. The Special Gift Fairy encourages children to look within themselves to find their special gift. If we encourage children to; focus on their strengths, ask for help, try new things, and appreciate their differences, they can develop a healthy self esteem.

Children comparing themselves to others is a part of normal human behavior. But what can happen is they notice not just differences but that one person has "more" and one person has "less." They start to see not having something as meaning they are not enough: good enough, intelligent enough, or even kind enough.

The fairy brings an element of magic into this story.  Believing in magic helps children have a more flexible and curious mindset. They can then create a sense of wonder when reflecting on their special gift. These traits help develop a growth-mindset, which allows for possibility, creativity, and overall happiness.
