James Fenimore Cooper was a popular American writer in 19th century. He was best known for his historical romances. Before his writer career, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Midshipman, which greatly influenced many of his novels and other writings.

“The Spy” is a marvelous novel by James Cooper written in 1821 became the second novel based on american materials of his literary creativity. The action of “Spy” takes place during the American Revolution and the main figure of the story is Harvey Birch a humble american posing himself a normal trader but actually collecting for the Continental army information about territories controlled by British troops. The novel is a great example which combines military actions and a beautiful story of love. Have a nice reading.
