ABSTRACT The issuance of SFAS 130: "Reporting Comprehensive Income " has given rise to a third level of income reporting which complements the operating income and net income in the traditional income statement. The pronouncement does not change any existing generally accepted accounting principles on measurement and recognition. Yet, contenders of SFAS 130 are concerned that reporting comprehensive income will create a more volatile earning measure.
