But no one wants the strange artifact until Lyam's mother provides knowledge of a magic trader in the north. Here, Lyam seeks his opportunity to abandon his quiet life on L'Perle. He joins the Cobalt Hare with a promise: he will help them complete the trade in exchange for adventure.
 

Yet, the Cobalt Hare's crew is inexperienced. Their captain, the mysterious Tristan Davies, hides in his cabin each day, while the small crew operates without knowledge of how to even maintain the ship. Lyam wonders what secrets lie beneath the rotting floorboards of the ship. Is there more magic waiting to be uncovered? And how will it affect their voyage ahead? Can they make the trade without casualties?
