The camera never lies. But AI can. A powerful and timely coming-of-age tale about friendship, trust and responsibility from critically acclaimed author Luke Palmer.
With AI, anything can be faked. Your face. Your body. Your whole life.
When Oli makes a fake video of his friends for a joke, he thinks nothing of it, despite the rift it creates in the group. It’s only when someone does something far worse to his sister that he begins to understand what the real-world consequences can be …
Renowned for his authentic portrayal of teenage voices, Luke Palmer masterfully tackles topical and complex themes around the creation of deepfakes, digital responsibility and consent in this compelling and relatable story for teen readers growing up in the digital age.
Reviews
"Luke Palmer is the real deal. Tiny Lies, big story, massive achievement." – Steve Cole
"Luke Palmer incisively captures the dangerous tightrope of modern technology young people are forced to walk. So many will see themselves, their friends and their situation reflected here. It's a topical, challenging, terrifying story yet thankfully full of empathy." – Keith Gray
“The extreme accuracy with which Luke writes teens is horribly realistic. This book is topical, with palpable emotional tension, and took me right back to my teenage years. Outstanding.” – Nathanael Lessore
