Tracing the Times

The "prequel" of "The tiller of the times", "Tracing the times" (2005) by Athens lawyer and poet, Augerinos Andreou, is presented here in its first English translation by Connie Stamos. Andreou writes modern Greek poetry about themes from antiquity, Greek history, and the harshness of city life in Athens as opposed to growing up in his home in mountain Epirus. The poet captures the narratives and folk songs of his village Ano Kalndini, thus curating the words, sounds, music, nature and imagery of his homeland. This book is enmeshed in both authors' lives, as they tried to face adversity and loss with courage while nurturing their crafts.
