Description de l’éditeur
An in-depth survey of the history, geology, environment, people, industry and architecture of the county of Westmorland in the English Lake District. The historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland, as well as part of northern Lancashire and a little bit of Yorkshire, were combined in 1974 to create the single county of Cumbria so that the entire region, including the National Park which was established in 1951, would be governed under one authority. Westmorland still lends its name to the region, most recognizably through the local newspaper, the Westmorland Gazette.
