John Fairchild, called for jury duty and then kept waiting, buys a box of old books to pass the time. One of those books claims to be a grimoire (book of magic spells).

Perhaps that bold claim is indeed true. Because the old book is two inches thick, with a fancy leather binding, but every page except the first page is blank. The book's first page claims that to read the rest of the book, the would-be wizard must answer three questions correctly.

Meaning, all three tough questions must be answered correctly. With no second chance or do-over allowed.

John takes the book home, and follows its instructions on how to answer its three questions. John can only wonder what strange words and mighty magical powers are hidden on all those blank pages.
