Publisher Description
Anthony Trollope is known primarily for his epic novels like Barchester Towers. However, he also wrote a number of smaller "gems". This is one of the best. Alice Dugdale is a plain but intelligent girl who sees the love of her life pushed by society to marry the beautiful, but somewhat vacuous, rich girl in town. Alice's reaction to this situation makes a wonderful and insightful story.
Customer Reviews
amateur narrator spoils it
didn’t listen to more than a minute of the preview to know that the narrator was not up to it. Why should the less famous stories be read by somebody professional or at least good at it? The smaller works will remain obscure if they are too disappointing.
Defective recording
Wouldn't fully download. In the bit I did hear the reader's voice and style was awful: a sort of monotonous nasal drawl. Ridiculous!
