Great adaptation of a masterpiece film

Really enjoyed this adaptation of the film. The approach to LV-426 was much more dramatic in the book than in the film. I didn’t really notice the crew were concerned about landing on the planet when watching the film.

One criticism I would have is that the times when the alien attacks the crew members are a bit underwhelming. It’s kind of like the alien appears, another crew member is gone, the alien disappears again. I guess it was written like this to keep the aliens intentions unknown, making it more menacing and raising questions about what happened to the crew member and where did it take them. I however as a reader who has seen all the movies and knows the intentions of the alien would have preferred a bit more information from the book. That said, it stayed true to the film which is probably best for readers who haven’t already watched the film.

Alien: A disappointing near word for word clone.

I love listening to audio books and since there are few good Star Wars AudioBooks on ITunes, I go for an Alien book or Reacher.

This, like The Cold Forge, disappoints. The dialogue is pretty much identical to the movie and yet it fails to make you care for the characters like you do the movie.

The scares aren’t there and don’t utilise The Beast to its full, shadowy potential.

There is an atmosphere of boredom despite the apparent danger.

I found Ash to be the only character I had any interest in.

Love the movie but loathed this.

Very good.

One of my favourite movies, and I love the book. I bought the audiobook as soon as I saw it on the store, very well read but was surprised that all the swearing had been taken out, it kind of waters down the grittiness and realism of the story for me.
