I LOVE this book!
How on earth have I missed reading this book during my life to date?
I devoured each and every word which was brilliantly narrated and I was on the edge of my seat throughout, which was a bit hairy at times as I was driving for most of it. The sound is a little tinny at times and the volume fluctuated but I can honestly say that I was too absorbed in the story for this to matter.
One of the best adventure stories I have ever read (along with The Count of Monte Cristo) with a fascinating insight into different cultures, a journey around the world which was only made possible in the year this was set. There are many obstacles in the way, some of which are very comical and there are a few laugh out loud moments.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone - a fantastic read!
Gripping to the end
Even though I knew this story from the dozens of adaptations, films and stories etc, I still found it a thrilling story. Fast paced and entertaining. I was on the edge of my seat at the end, even thought I knew what happened !!! A good adaptation which was easy to listen to.
Poor quality
My ears hurt listening to this. As a very good author and book nevertheless this edition I do not recommend, the guy is struggling, has a weird accent and the audio has a loud background hiss, being recorded in low quality.
