Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. André Aciman's critically acclaimed debut novel is a frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion.
More praise for Call Me By Your Name:
"...Armie Hammer (who plays Oliver in the movie) steps effortlessly into Elio's interior world. The result is staggering." — BookRiot
"a must-listen for anyone familiar with the book or film." — Buzzfeed
"Hammer’s soft, velvety voice lends itself perfectly to the story and its Italian setting. While you might think this one isn’t worth a listen if you’ve already seen the movie or read the book, many reviewers say it is still worth taking in even if you know the story – some even say it’s worth listening to more than once." — AskMen
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
During a sultry summer in the mid-1980s, precocious teenager Elio and his family welcome American graduate student Oliver to their villa in northern Italy. While Elio transcribes his sheet music, Oliver works on his book; in between, there are quips, glances, and grazes, leading to a whirlwind romance. Armie Hammer, who starred as Oliver in the award-winning movie adaptation, delivers a breathtaking narration of André Aciman’s novel. Call Me by Your Name is a romance for the ages—and Hammer does it justice, poetically capturing the vulnerability, frustration, and elation of young, unbridled desire.
Armie Hammer’s voice is sublime.
This book is a masterpiece, I am now listening to it for a 3rd time and I only bought it a week ago. The writing is really quite exceptional it draws you into the book quickly and manages to keep you hooked until the very end, the descriptive power of words manages to make you relate to that longing and yearning of new love and the desire that captivates us all.
I try to write this review and I struggle because it makes me so emotional because I can’t find the words to describe this book. My words will only diminish this absolutely outstanding masterpiece.
Thank you André Aciman for sharing this book with us with me. It has touched me deeply!
