Shortlisted for Best New Writer of the Year - The British Sports Book Awards 2012
This book is both a lesson in true grit and determination, but its goal is one that is attainable. Andy isn't a sporting superstar, he holds down a nine-to-five job and all the pressures that go with it; he isn’t blessed with speed and talent; there are no multi-million pound sponsorship deals; yet this remarkable "common man" is inspiring in a way that some of today’s sporting superstars have forgotten how to be. You wouldn’t recognize Andy in the street, yet his story provides valuable lessons to us all: "Never give up" and "Anything is possible".
Customer Reviews
Great story, awful narration!!
The actual story is great. One of the best written autobiography books in a while. But the narration is terrible, the guy is obviously not English but puts on an English accent to mimic that of the writer. And it is awful! Banairna (banana), Lanzawrote (Lanzarote), tri-Athalon (triathlon)...the list is endless! I keep losing track of the storyline because I'm thrown off by a poor attempt at an English accent! With a good narrator I'd have given this a 5 star!
Who chose the narrator??
Seriously, it’s hard to concentrate on the content, the narration is just terrible
great book
Great story/well written. Bought to accompany me when running. Ruined however by poor narration - accent and pronunciation terrible! Would have loved to have heard Andy Holgate narrating his own story. Think I would have enjoyed reading this more than the audiobook.
