Published in 1897 and told through a series of diary entries and letters, the story journeys into the dark world of Count Dracula through the eyes of several different narrators. The novel explores many themes, the role of women in Victorian culture, conventional and conservative sexuality, immigration, colonialism, post colonialism and folklore.
Irish author Abraham "Bram" Stoker (1847 - 1912) was writer of novels and short stories. He was also the personal assistant of the actor Henry Irving and the business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, which Irving owned.

Its a classic but narration terrible
A great story and well worth the price and the story teller has a good voice but not that good at reading it. He stops at the wrong points during sentences seeming to misunderstand the intended grammar. I know the book is written in an old language at points but generally seems a bit first time read, you can hear him turning the pages as well and pausing when he needs to read the next line. It seems picky but this does taint the whole atmosphere of the story.

Well worth buying
I read this book many years ago. This is the original edition so has a few bits that I don't recall being in the later edition I had read. It is very well narrated and is an excellent story. In this original unabridged version you get an insight into Victorian attitudes towards life, marriage and science which are lacking in some of the subsequent editions and from any film treatment of the subject. At this price, it is excellent value for money.
