The gripping new thriller from the #1 bestselling author of THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR
Welcome to Stanhope - a safe neighbourhood. A place for families.
William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he's been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter Ella unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.
Hours later, Ella's family declare her missing.
Suddenly Stanhope doesn't feel so safe. And William isn't the only one on his street who's hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Ella's neighbours become increasingly unhinged.
Who took Ella Wooler?
Nothing will prepare you for the truth.

**4.5 Stars**
This was a tense and addictive read that was hard to put down. It centres around a respected GP, William Wooler, who discovers that his affair with a colleague suddenly ends. This unexpected turn of events sets off a cycle of “what ifs” as he begins to change his routine.
For instance, he returns home earlier than usual and finds his nine-year-old daughter, Avery, at home. Avery had been kicked out of lessons due to her behaviour. But, she to a certain extent has sociopathic tendencies. While she is clearly on the spectrum, there seems to be more to her than meets the eye. She is disruptive and tells countless lies. However, after an argument, her Dad storms out of the house, ashamed. Suddenly, the next thing he knows is that Avery goes missing.
William’s fears escalate, but when the police are called, he fails to provide them with a crucial piece of information.
Stanhope, where they live and know most of the neighbours, appears to be a safe neighbourhood. However, beneath the surface, lies, secrets, and more are being revealed. The answers are in plain sight, but an undercurrent of fear permeates the community as accusations fly.
Excellent!
