This book at first look seemed like it was going to be a straightforward and given the subject matter about a rich guy Miles who is a tech billionaire who recently discovers he has a terminal illness. He is deciding how to divide up his huge cash flow. Knowing he has this illness means it’s a possibility of passing it on.
He decides he has to find out if he fathered any children by making deposits at a clinic. 9 children are on a list so he decides to track them down to warn them and also let them know he is dividing wealth up to them.
Now this is the time to buckle up because Linwood Barclay has weaved more than one story and what is uncovered are people driven by greed and vanity. The story is fast paced and thrilling, I felt my heart beating outside my chest at some points. I won’t say anymore apart from adding there are conspiracies and murder and a huge question mark about the 9 siblings and the sinister reason behind it all. Miles has his work cut out as horrific obstacles are put in his path.
