This is Britain as it has never been told.
From Newcastle to Cornwall, from the birth of the twentieth century to the teens of the twenty-first, Girl, Woman, Other follows a cast of twelve characters on their personal journeys through this country and the last hundred years. They're each looking for something - a shared past, an unexpected future, a place to call home, somewhere to fit in, a lover, a missed mother, a lost father, even just a touch of hope . . .

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nobody lives in a vacuum, especially in a city like London where people’s lives intersect every moment of the day. Girl, Woman, Other follows 12 very different characters, each with their own chapter and the experience is like listening to a novel, a short story collection and a prose poem in one. Bernardine Evaristo’s writing flows across the page with no capitalisation and minimal punctuation, laying the groundwork for Anna-Maria Nabirye's utterly compelling narration. Let yourself sink into the words and become part of the experience. Empathetic, frank and unflinching, this multi-faceted portrait of black British women’s lives will have you fretting over their struggles, but also sharing their laughter and joy.

Unbelievable book
I can’t adequately describe what a wonder this book is. The effortless telling of stories from so many different perspectives, the amount of times you catch yourself smile and nod your head in recognition of moments and feelings, the beautiful interconnected blanket of representation. Best thing I’ve ever read and absolutely a gem of a book. Thank you Bernadine.
Worthy winner of the Booker Prize
If you’re looking for a light read with a simple story, this book is not for you. Prepare to meet characters from all walks of life, understand their backgrounds and struggles as they co-exist and sometimes intertwine in a melting pot of contemporary Britain.
This book is fiercely diverse in the perspectives and characters that are portrayed. Despite the large cast, Evaristo manages to create richness and authenticity for each one to provide a deeply human lens through which to grapple issues from race, class and gender, to sexuality, age and intersectionality.
This book is a truly unique and enriching experience!
Great story, basic audio book detail
Really enjoying this book, lots of different stories in one with a chapter that focus on a different person.
I think the audio book could have included more detail, like chapter name, as opposed to just track number, which it does.
I find it hard to go back to a certain point of listening.
This lack of detail seems quite lazy to from the audio publisher/apple.
