Torn Between Finishing and Moving On
Ugh, I really wanted to love this series. I got to Book 3 and ended up putting it down. I might come back to it, but we’ll see.
The storyline starts off very slow, focusing heavily on the main character’s growth. It’s clear she’s coming out of a grooming dynamic and slowly realising her worth, and that aspect of the story is important and continues to shape her character. By Book 3, she finally starts becoming the woman we’ve all been waiting for, which was satisfying to see.
The pace itself isn’t actually bad, and the overall storyline is good. The romance is also really strong. I think, for me, it might just be the writing style that doesn’t quite hit the mark. There’s nothing obviously wrong with it, but something about it just doesn’t fully click.
Now that I’m talking about it, I’m wondering if I should go back and finish it as I am remembering the good parts again. I probably will go back, finish Book 3, and move on to Book 4—but we’ll see.
