Bill Gates has spent a decade investigating the causes and effects of climate change. With the help of experts in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, political science, and finance, he has focused on what must be done in order to stop the planet's slide toward certain environmental disaster. In this book, he not only explains why we need to work toward net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases, but also details what we need to do to achieve this profoundly important goal.
He gives us a clear-eyed description of the challenges we face. Drawing on his understanding of innovation and what it takes to get new ideas into the market, he describes the areas in which technology is already helping to reduce emissions, where and how the current technology can be made to function more effectively, where breakthrough technologies are needed, and who is working on these essential innovations. Finally, he lays out a concrete, practical plan for achieving the goal of zero emissions-suggesting not only policies that governments should adopt, but what we as individuals can do to keep our government, our employers, and ourselves accountable in this crucial enterprise.
As Bill Gates makes clear, achieving zero emissions will not be simple or easy to do, but if we follow the plan he sets out here, it is a goal firmly within our reach.

The way he breaks down the problems which are obviously massive and very far-reaching in such a systematic way is really helpful. The scale and the complexity required for all the solutions is mind blowing. The last bit of the book where he describes the requirements that need to be achieved within the US through the various political departments are confusing to a non-US resident. I would love to be able to download the PDFs having listened to it but as yet am unable to work out how.
How to avoid a climate disaster?...
Avoid an unelected, unqualified, wannabe (plant-based) overlord. He must have a massive hand as it seems to be in everything. I don't know what makes him the expert in anything other than computers, oh yeah, money. Wants us to eat manufactured everything whist becoming the biggest owner of farmland in the "Divided" States of America. Wants us all vaccinated with his vaccines Kerrr-ching. This just doesn't make sense. How does he know what's best for the world population? Losing faith in humanity but starting to wonder if BG even falls into that category. It all smells like a really sub-standard but troublesome Bond movie..... No, I'm not what would be referred to as "Conspiracy Theorist" just concerned about the future if him and some of his "mates" get their way...
Would rather read John Leslie’s autobiography.
This man is more evil than skeletor.
