Read This Novel.
This first part of what has become known as the "Hyperion Cantos" is an outstanding example of high concept science fiction.
Taking the form of a latter day "Canterbury Tales" suffused and imbued with the spirit of Keats this novel teams with sympathetic characters in a richly detail future human society spread across the galaxy that is in many ways a reflection of our own. Projecting a plausible evolution of the internet into the future and long before the world was even aware of its existence, Simmons blends very human concerns with future technology such as advanced artificial intelligence in a deeply satisfying story of loss and hope.
Thoroughly recommeded.
