this is a most pleasurable listening experience, a real little gem. anyone who remembers the t.v serial and enjoyed it will enjoy this audiobook. i had 'i claudius on tape cassette and listened to it so many times it finally disintergrated.

Well read by Derek Jacobi, one of my favourite actors anyway. I remember the series when I was a kid, although I was expecting the book to go up to where Claudius dies and Nero takes over - but that's probably me getting it wrong. I would recommend this to anyone interested in the Romans, especially the era from Julius Cesar up to Nero (they kept in the family you know). Think Claudius was just as naughty as the rest of them. A good piece of fiction.
