Great book
First book I’ve had of Toms, I’ve read his reviews on his last book, so not sure I believe it all but a good book anyway
False suspense abounds
I’m sure ‘Tom’ has a very creditable career to his name and, with the perspective of having served in the armed forces myself I take my hat off to him for his military and Security Service career and for battling PTSD: both the military and our security people do wonderful work. All that said..
If you’re looking for drama where there is none, this is the book for you. ‘My only weapon was a leatherman knife’. Yes Tom, why would you have anything else? MI5 surveillance people are supported by armed police and SRR where necessary so have no need to be?
The first book was quite interesting but a bit hammy but this feels like a good old scrape of the barrel: like someone trying to turn some mildly interesting career anecdotes into a Jason Bourne thriller. But that doesn’t really hold when you’re watching some scrotes in West London but have time to nip home to change your baby’s nappy.
I’ve probably spoiled myself by reading too many books about espionage and counter-terrorism but this is not the best there is to read imho and is a little like it’s been ghosted by Alan Partridge
Absolutely Fantastic!
Absolutely fantastic, I have never been into books but this guy grips me from start to finish!! Cannot wait for Tom’s next book! Have loved solider spy and this one! True to life that you can literally be there with him!!
