A never-before-heard collection of archive recordings of the wit and wisdom of Linda Smith - a "national treasure" of Radio 4 and BBC TV. (Links are narrated by Hattie Hayridge.)
In this brilliant anthology Linda's fans can now hear original recordings of her live performances, never before heard by the public, compiled and edited by her partner of 23 years, Warren Lakin. These recordings were made for her own private use, and this is the definitive collection of Linda's work on audio.

Poor quality amateur recordings of performance clips - not worth buying
I am a fan of Linda Smith from her appearances on various Radio 4 comedy programmes and bought this audiobook expecting more in that vein. The reality was extremely disappointing.
This is a collection of amateur recordings of extracts of her stand-up routines; recorded by her to see what material worked and what didn't. The quality of many of the recordings is appalling, which is unsurprising as they were never intended for broadcast. They sound like they were made on a cheap cassette recorder by someone standing in the audience. This is not what you would expect from a purchased audiobook released by a reputable publisher.
The other problem I had is that too much of the material is a lot less funny (and an awful lot cruder) than you'd be led to believe from her description as one of Britian's wittiest people. She sounds coarse and sweary most of the time, shouting to be heard above an audience of heckling drunks.
I can't believe that anyone would think that this cobbled together rubbish is an acceptable legacy for one of Britain's funniest people.
