An intriguing read .
A very timely read for me an insight into the real Lulu behind all the bright lights of fame .
I lost my mother recently and had a lot of fall out from it , this book has helped me no end understanding generational trauma and all that comes with it .
I was born in 1958 and as long as I remember Lulu was in our lives , my family loved music and of course we had lulus records in our home .
I’ve always known or had a feeling there was a lot more to Lulu than all the fluff in the early days .
I clearly remember when Lulu released “Where the poor boys dance “ I could relate to it , as a Dj in clubs part time I remember how popular the remix was of “ Hurt me so bad “ totally new directions for Lulu .
I hope Lulu reads these reviews, I met her once in the lift of the Hilton hotel in Belfast , she was playing in. The Waterfront hall , we had a brief chat and she joked her throat was sore hope your going to help me sing tonight , as a hairdresser I was used to doing some celebrity’s hair , so we chatted easily for a minute or two then I went off to have my dinner , while I’m sure Lulu was getting set to do the show.
All I can say is I felt a genuine warmth from Lulu , she wasn’t bothered at all that I said hello and looking forward to seeing you later .
I’m really glad this book came out now it’s been a real help to me and I will pass on hard copies to friends this Christmas as gifts as I know there’s a lot of truth and healing words in the book .
It was wonderful to hear Lulu narrate it personally a really nice touch .
I look forward to seeing Lulu live again if not in Belfast somewhere!!
