Publisher Description
The first of Homer's great epic poems, the Iliad portrays the final days of the Trojan war. The Iliad has stood the test of time and is still one of (it not the) best depictions of ancient warfare. It is an essential precursor to the infamous journey of Odysseus.
Translated by Stanley Lombardo. Introduction by Susan Sarandon.

Simply amazing!
This audio book is simply amazing. Brilliant translation and wonderfully read. (Whoever read this is so talented.) I really enjoyed this. In fact I enjoyed it so much I wrote this review and I have never written a review for itunes before. The audiobook is over 15hours long and has kept me entertained in my car to and from work for weeks. The quality of the recording is super and the occasional backing music fits perfectly. Great job. Thank you :)
Absolutely brilliant
Decided to buy this as I had about 10 hours of train travelling to do. It has totally exceeded my expectations and I just can't stop listening at every opportunity. The translation is totally in tune with the times and Stanley Lombardo's narration is so good that I find myself transported every time I close my eyes. Like the previous reviewer, I have never written a review before but felt this was so good I just had to let others know how excellent this is. Very highly recommended.
