survival phrases arabic
This audiobook gives you the basics you require to be polite and ask a few helpful questions like do you speak english or where is the bathroom. Its well narrated by Munia and its easy to listen to, Although I have just visited Egypt and found that it is not absolutley accurate as it is definatley aimed a visitors to Morroco. I really have to say that for £2.99 for 30 phrases I found it very useful and the local people do really appreciate anyone who tries to speak their language. Definatley worth buying but dont expect Rossetta Stones fluent in ten minutes type course. I also purchased the second lessons but found them a bit longwinded with phrases like where can i post this package to New York. Part 2 not reccomended.
Dont expect a complete course!!
this purchase gives you 30 lessons as an audiobook, i.e. a voice script without any material to read or compare. It is a lead for you to join their course, for a sharp fee, that will then allow you access to the coursework. not impressed....learning a foreign language without knowing how to spell or write the words? of course not.
It's great for the car ....
I listen to this in the car and find it extremely helpful. It's only a very basic introduction - a few words really - but helpful nonetheless. Of course there is no written coursework to go with this, but the intention of this is not to teach how to read and write, but how to pronounce and speak. I listen to it over and over again, and it's a very useful introduction to the language. Reading and writing in Arabic is another thing altogether, and although of course this is important, for the occasional visitor to Arabic speaking countries, this is idea. Highly recommended. The only very annoying thing, is the constant repeat of the unnecessarily long introduction at the beginning of each lesson ..... and there seems to be no way to skip this!
