This gripping thriller is doubly enjoyable as narrations comes courtesy of the author herself. Nobody is better equipped to bring the dark edges of her acclaimed follow-up to Something in the Water and Catherine Steadman is a confident, accomplished narrator. She’s obviously got a lot to work with here. An immediately engaging psychological thriller, it opens with a man found on a Norfolk beach, barely alive and with no clues as to his identity. It turns to neuropsychiatrist Dr. Emma Lewis to track down the truth and finally prove herself. Naturally, there are complications, not least Lewis’ wariness at returning to the very same coastal town she escaped 14 years before. Are there links between the case and her past? The unexpected ending will reveal everything—and much more.

Absolute loved this book very addictive and great to listen too. I loved Catherine’s voice.

Truly excellent
This book is not only a wonderful mystery, reminding me of girl on a train, but also a brilliant insight into the inner workings of minds, relationships and internal struggles. I throughly enjoyed this audiobook which was fantastically narrated by the author, a decision that does not always work out well but happy to say in this case it was an inspired decision. I don’t normally leave reviews but this book insisted by its brilliance that I did. I will be getting a hard copy for my mum today!
