Friends to lovers at its best
One of my favourite tropes, written by one of my favourite authors. Win, win. A truly enjoyable, angst free, friends to lovers fake romance. Carter Hendrix and Rachel Dumont have been best friends in what feels like forever. They’ve kept in touch while living on opposite sides of the country, throughout Rachel’s marriage, and all through Carter’s pro ball career, they just get each other. When Rachel’s marriage ends (badly) and she flees back to San Francisco, Carter’s there to help her, to entertain her, and to show her how a man should properly date a lady. It also works in his favour as he needs 5 public dates for his sponsor. Win, win. And oh how Carter schmoozes Rachel, he’s the perfect gentleman, until he’s not, ‘wink, wink’. Rachel sees a completely different side to her best friend, and she likes it, a lot. But they agreed to just the 5 dates. A wonderful, timeless story, with adorable characters (some will be familiar to regular LB readers), narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon, who, as usual bring the story to life in the best possible way, giving readers all the highs, all the lows, and all the feels, as they give it their all. An all round entertaining and fun, sexy story. I received a complementary copy of this audio book. This is my honest review.
