*The Power of Grief*
**4.5 Stars**
I had mixed feelings about this book initially but, it was the kind of book that was also felt uncomfortable and full of tension as we have a front row seat into their lives.
We have a British couple Tobias and Evelyn. they are in love and very happy with their family of three. Tobias gets a job offer to move to the USA. One fateful night a devastating accident shatters their world. This reduces their family by one. The guilty person Aaron goes to jail.
Evelyn is so all consumed with grief that she believes the only way to heal is to seek vengeance.
Tobias has put her on a pedestal and he seems almost afraid of her. He is holding onto the hope she will come back to him. He knows what she is planning and he does not agree with her plan but goes along with it.
Well the day that Aaron is released is the day she sets off with Tobias to exact revenge. Evelyn and Tobias are at an impasse and as she sees him as weak.
As time goes on Tobias is sure that he can turn things around. We witness Evelyn’s grief with a pain that is palpable. We see Evelyn slowly becoming a shadow of her former self as she wreaks havoc wherever she goes.
While she is hellbent on revenge Tobias is hellbent on trying to save her from herself….
How would any of us act if we had a devastating loss? A loss that cut so deep that we cannot see past it? How far would we go?
Evelyn and Tobias are about to find out….. Both of them will be forever changed….
Very annoying….
I found this book so frustrating. The main characters are so annoying and keep making very silly decisions - perhaps this is the authors intention, but I cannot persevere with the story and have absolutely no interest in what happens to the main characters whatsoever. A dull, silly and disappointing novel!
Fantastic thriller
A book I had to keep listening to, couldn’t turn it off. Excellent.
