*A rude awakening*
I listened to the audio of this title narrated by Kristen DiMercurio. In my opinion, Kristen did a fantastic job voicing the various male, female and child voices.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I’ll definitely read it again. It’s a heartwarming tale with some funny moments.
We meet Ali Morris, who faces a double whammy when her mother passes away and her husband Pete leaves her. This is a wake-up call for her as she mopes around the house in sloppy sweatpants, a stark contrast to her professional organising skills.
Her best friend Frannie has been trying to encourage her to leave the sweatpants behind.
Ali, an accountant, soon realises she’s given all the power in her relationship to her husband when they had children and that she’s never truly been in love.
One day, she decides to take her dog Ferris to the dog park. Unfortunately, he decides to have a toilet break on Ethan’s shoe.
Ali finds Ethan attractive but is mortified by her dog’s antics. Ethan laughs it off, and she doesn’t realise who he is.
Once that hurdle is overcome, they decide to have a summer romance. This is because Ali is going through a divorce and Ethan is in town for the summer.
