Jim Roberts’ no-nonsense narration makes for a quick and easily digestible way to experience the book’s shrewd understanding of human behavior. Based on Lionel Giles’ 1910 translation—preferred for its faithfulness and clarity—this unabridged version is the best way to experience the book in English. And don’t be put off by the militaristic title: Sun Tzu’s 13 lessons on topics like planning, creativity, and identifying strengths and weaknesses in yourself and others have relevance for our everyday lives, both at work and at home.
