Publisher Description

The Atheist's Guide to Christmas is a fantastic listen that was edited by Ariane Sherine, who started the Atheist Bus Campaign in response to an evangelical Christian bus advertisement that gave the URL of a website "telling non-Christians they would spend 'all eternity in torment in hell'."

With the backing of Richard Dawkins, officially supporting the UK's first atheist advertising initiative, Sherine managed to compile a wonderful concoction of the world's most entertaining writers, scientists, comedians, and philosophers to read, perform, and narrate pieces that they had all written for the print book, which was published on October 1, 2009. This audio version is magnificent! It's funny, uplifting, and is read by all of the book's contributors, including Derren Brown, Richard Dawkins, Mitch Benn, Ben Goldacre, Simon Le Bon, Charlie Brooker, and David Baddiel.

Superb but flawed

The book is amazing, whoever thought that Simon Le Bon would have something interesting to say, but I was missing the entire segment entitled "Silent Night" and the Mitch Benn segment repeated part of it half way through.
I may have gotten a faulty download but if others got the same errors then it could be abroken file in some way.

please tell me there's a book 2!

i can't say anything other than genius! so funny! you get 38 different celebs! including simon le bon, mitch benn (possibly the funniest man alive!), the awe-inspiring Richard Dawkins and someone who always cracks me up Charlie Brooker. This is seriously something to listen to not just at christmas but any time of the year. I roared with laughter through out but it's also very touching and simply refreshing and frankly that's what's needed! enjoy!

A Nice Surprise

This was a book that I downloaded without hope of great things, just as a little diversion over Christmas but how wrong I was. It is brilliant, from the thoughts of Simon LeBon (Yes really!!) to the pastiche of Jeeves of Wooster from Richard Dawkins just to mention 2 contributors, it was really thought provoking and a great tonic to all the celebrations that reley on belief.

An audiobook not just for Xmas...
