**4.5 Stars**

This book really piqued my interest all the way through. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Louise Brealey, who did a great job.

We see what happens when a mother takes matters into her own hands when she discovers her daughter is missing. Lauren’s daughter, Evie, was supposed to be in university. Lauren had arranged to pick her up at the end of the first term, but when she arrives, she is shocked to find Evie nowhere to be seen and has been missing from the university for some time. The university is on skeleton staff, and they are not very helpful, apart from one security staff member. Since Evie is over 18, the police don’t take things seriously.

We soon discover that Lauren is determined and along the way, a blast from the past returns into her life, exposing a huge secret she has been carrying. The lack of help from the police pushes Lauren into an unknown world filled with danger, violence, and fear.

A mother’s love is on display, and at times, it was frustrating and unbelievable at the situations she experienced. I will stop there as the showdown was off the charts.

A bit too predictable

Great reviews and a potentially captivating plot with many twists . Unfortunately I found some of these ' twists " very predictable .
Good holiday read but the audio book was difficult to get into because I just didn't relate well to the readers voice. Probably not her fault and it did get better as I got further into it. There was just something lacking for me. Sorry

Absolutely Fantastic

Fantastic narration which adds to the suspense of the book. The plot is so relatable. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
