simple but effective...

the author takes an original idea and writes in a simple but informing style that sometimes took me by surprise. followers of faiths and aethiests and agnostics alike should find pullman's take on the story of Jesus Christ both entertaining and enlightening.

Great

Very well written and entertaining. Also thought provoking. The idea of Jesus Christ being a composite of two people is an excellent way to explore the relationship between a man who undoubtedly existed and inspired people during his life, and the corrupt monstrosity of organised religion.

Very Good

This is fiction and if your personal beliefs make you detest the book then it's a pretty closed mind. A very interesting idea. The local english dialects just add to the characters appeal. All in all, although not 5 stars, its certainly a book I'd reccomend to anyone who can understand that it's not blasphemy, it's about how stories can be retold and uses a well known setting for it's basis.
