This book for me was strangely conflicting and a touch disturbing. I am not sure how to feel. This story focuses on a mother with a son who was killed in a car driven into a reservoir. Two were in the car and the one who survives is the one she hates. The very one who she always had an uneasy feeling about Kieron. He goes to prison and only receives a short sentence.
Once Kieron is out her obsession escalates, so she turns to her ex husband her son’s father and she wants serious revenge. She decides to save money to get rid of him. Her ex husband decides he will take care of it all. But two years later Kieron reappears……..
What happened? Where has he been? What is her ex husband’s explanation…….
The plot twists and turns as secrets and lies are exposed…… as for the final twist, well……….
Gripping
Enjoyed this tale, the characters were interesting and real.
Under the skin
Talking about this story needs restraining or the plot is given away. It starts in a genuine family setting and for a short while will give the impression that although something daunting might have happened, nothing much is going on. But then everything turns into a crawling beast which will get under your skin. There are tragic events and characters are exposed with no concern to appear likeable. A brave choice. The twists are clever but the ability to make the reader or listener go through a range of very strong emotions is the best part of the whole story.
