Publisher Description
Frank Cotton's insatiable appetite for the dark pleasures of pain led him to the puzzle of Lemarchand's box, and from there, to a death only a sick-minded soul could invent. But his brother's love-crazed wife, Julia, has discovered a way to bring Frank back-though the price will be bloody and terrible . . . and there will certainly be hell to pay. This book is the basis for the blockbuster movie Hellraiser.
Customer Reviews
An excellent audio book.
Having recently become a fan of Doug Bradley’s excellent ‘Spinechillers’ series, I found myself returning to memories of his most iconic role, Pinhead. This in turn lead me to iTunes to see if any of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser stories had become audio books. The Hellbound Heart as read by Clive Barker is an excellent experience, in many ways far more enjoyable than the film it later inspired. The mind has no budgetary considerations so hearing Clive read his visceral descriptions of the pains and pleasures of the Cenobites was incredibly vivid and eerie. In many respects, for fans of the films, it will provide a more satisfying experience than looking at what must seem like a dated movie. My only disappointment was the discovery that neither Clive or Doug Bradley did the read for the Scarlet Gospels , instead, it seems to have been narrated by Stephen Toast.
