Open yourself to the transforming experience of The Power of Now, the acclaimed bestseller by revolutionary spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle.
To make the journey into the Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the very first minute of Eckhart Tolle's extraordinary book, we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where we breathe a lighter air. We become connected to the indestructible essence of our Being, “The eternal, ever present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.”
Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle uses simple language and an easy question and answer format to guide us. A word of mouth phenomenon since its first publication, The Power of Now is one of those rare audiobooks with the power to create an experience in listeners, one that can radically change their lives for the better.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In terms of commitment, The Power of Now is somewhere between using an online meditation app and going deep into the tenets of Buddhism philosophy. Spiritual adviser Eckhart Tolle has a wonderfully soothing voice that avoids woo-woo mysticism—during the course of this book, he reveals his own struggles with depression and an overactive mind, coming across as more of a relatable friend than some kind of guru. The Power of Now positions self-improvement as an ongoing process, not a specific goal…which is probably the healthiest way to think of it.
I'm learning to be thoughtless
My Dad used to say I thought too much when I worried about something. Listening to Eckhart has proved that thought is our greatest enemy. We spend our days either living in the past or the future, running mind-movies of things that aren't even real. Eckhart has a wonderful voice, a charming sense of humour and his words soothe the spirit and quieten the mind. If 2012 really is to be the flowering of a new consciousness then I recommend you purchase all of his books. I have and I don't regret a penny.
It'll change the way you (don't) think
This man has one of the most monotonous voices ever but the ideas are indeed profound. You cant argue with the logic of the process. Dont make yourself happy, just stop making yourself sad, stressed, worried etc. Life changing!!
An utterly profound masterwork.
Try this simple test - don't think of anything for two minutes. No thoughts at all. It's extremely hard as thoughts pop in and out and take over your mind. You will probably become distracted by so many thoughts and tangents that you will forget what you were supposed to be doing in the first place! If you observe these thoughts you'll see most, if not all of them will be related to the past or the future in some way. Try it now and see for yourself...
Just to put this review in perspective, I wasn't looking for anything even remotely like The Power of Now before I listened to it. I'd heard a few quotes sampled and thought it sounded interesting.
Do you sometimes wonder is this it? Or have you ever felt there is something
else going on with life and existence that you could never quite put your finger on? There is! Do you have complete control over your mind and emotions?
Do unwanted thoughts often pop into your head? Do you have repetitive negative thought patterns? Do you want to know why the world is full of so much misery and insanity?
If any of these questions interest or relate to you then you have to read The Power of Now whether you are religious, spiritual or not. It will transform your whole life for the better (I'm speaking from experience). Eckhart speaks with a focused clarity about a wealth of incredible knowledge that will have a massive impact on anyone who understands it. You will definitely learn things about yourself you'd never even considered or realised.
The Power of Now is the most profound and important book I have ever read/listened to. It's impossible to convey the power of the book in a short and simple review so if this has interested you at all then buy it right now. I wish I'd read/heard it a long time ago.
