THE BESTSELLER THAT DEFINED AN AGE
'Everything, somehow, fit together; some sly and benevolent Providence was revealing itself by degrees and I felt myself trembling on the brink of a fabulous discovery, as though any morning it was all going to come together---my future, my past, the whole of my life---and I was going to sit up in bed like a thunderbolt and say oh! oh! oh!'
Under the influence of a charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at a New England college discover a way of thought and life a world away from their banal contemporaries. But their search for the transcendent leads them down a dangerous path, beyond human constructs of morality.
'Haunting, compelling and brilliant' The Times
'Irresistible and seductive' Guardian
'Enthralling... Forceful, cerebral and impeccably controlled' New York Times

Really pleased to find this available
I listened to an abridged version of this novel years ago on Radio 4, so was delighted to see this available. It’s an amazing book, and I like Ms Tartt’s narration of her work.
The book was good, not so much the audio
The book was amazing and had I just read the book alone I would’ve loved it even more. The narrator wasn’t bad but she just didn’t suit the role. I mean it’s great when authors read their books but doesn’t mean they should and Donna Tartt most definitely should not have narrated the book.
Not for me
I’m sorry I gave up with this one at 30pc through. Narration is fine but story is long winded - a lot of words to say nothing. Often an important detail is mixed into a long waffle which makes it easy to miss. I didn’t feel impelled to find out what happens next and didn’t feel I knew the characters at this point. Not for me.
