The Tuesday Night Club is a venue where locals challenge Miss Marple to solve recent crimes…
When her friends from the Tuesday Night Club visit Miss Marple’s house the conversation often turns to unsolved crimes…
Trying to solve these thirteen mysteries are Raymond West, a young writer, the artist Joyce Lemprière, Dr Pender the clergyman, who claims to know the hidden side of human character, Mr Petherick, a lawyer who is only interested in the logical approach and Sir Henry Clithering, whose experience as commissioner of Scotland Yard speaks for itself.
Then of course there is Miss Marple who has observed enough about human nature to be more than a match for the most perspicacious investigator…
“The plots are so good that one marvels… most of them would have made a full-length thriller.”
About the author
Agatha Christie was born in Torquay in 1890 and became, quite simply, the best-selling novelist in history. Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, written towards the end of the First World War, introduced us to Hercule Poirot, who was to become the most popular detective in crime fiction since Sherlock Holmes. She is known throughout the world as the Queen of Crime. Her books have sold over a billion copies in the English language and another billion in over 100 foreign languages. She is the author of 80 crime novels and short story collections, 19 plays, and six novels under the name of Mary Westmacott.
Queen of crime.
I enjoyed this audiobook and have listened to it repeatedly!
I bought this audiobook for my holiday, along with a few Miss Marple tv programmes.
The rating is not for the story, I love Agatha Christie, but the audio on this digital download sounds like a CD that gets stuck, I’d say by chapter 8 I’ve had four instances of stuttering interrupting the audio, e.g. Miss Ma-ma-ma-ma-Marple etc. Annoying as this was a digital purchase listened on a digital device and it’s not like the audio books are cheap!
