Tom is a sexually naïve man in the final stages of becoming a monk. Wishing to enlighten himself on the opposite sex, he visits the Brooklyn Museum in New York to see the 1979 feminist artwork, "The Dinner Party", which features thirty-nine vulvic designs for thirty-nine influential women from history.

However, during his visit, he is knocked unconscious by a masculinist activist and is transported to another realm where he learns that the women represented in The Dinner Party are imprisoned in a spell and the only way to break the spell is to travel back through time and have sex with each of them.

This sets Tom on a quest through history to rescue the thirty-nine women and also learn a great deal about the opposite sex along the way.
