A Ballad of Eleanor

I lecture the room, “To save time, I drive, I shoot, I know electronics and computers. I work out each and every day. If the scumbags chase me, my car will easily outdistance them. If it gets into a multiple car chase, the scumbags get tired, well before I do. I have electronics that let me see the scumbags, before they see me. I pick up product and I deliver it to your people. I never fail. Max, down at the pick up, sold me out to the scumbags.”
Expensive suit boy asks, “You have proof of your charge?”
“I have an audio thumb drive, recorded off my police scanner.”
Expensive suit boy says, “Give it to Vito.”
I reach slowly into my pocket and then hand the thumb drive to hard boy.
The other suit boy then lectures, “We talked with Max. He denies everything.”
I sigh, “When Max decides to sell me out, he should use a land line telephone, not a police band radio.”
Expensive suit boy says, “If what you say is true, we’ll have to abandon our current pick up site.”
I lecture, “What I say is true. If I were you, I would have my people sanitize the pick up site or, better, I would have Max run the site, when the feds come in and make arrests.”
The other suit boy then sneers, “That’s an expensive solution to what may be a product of your imagination.”
About this time, Vito comes back into the room and whispers to expensive suit boy.
Expensive suit boy harrumphs and then says, “Apparently, Max did indeed talk with the police. They're still examining the recorder voices, but the situation seems to be much like what the Devil says.”
I ask, “Why did Max betray me?”
The other suit boy sneers, “That’s no business of yours.”
I sigh, “As a result of Max’s betrayal, I could be in jail, the feds would have effectively seized a large amount of my money and your organization would be short a rather large amount of product. However, why Max betrayed me is none of my business. Save it for the sheep who work for you.”
Expensive suit boy says, “Now, now, let’s keep it polite here.”
I lecture, “Polite is for this room, where Vito can keep it polite. I operate out on the public roads. I have had purpose built a 750 horsepower delivery vehicle. Not just a powerful engine, but also a race built transmission, driveshaft and differential. My delivery vehicle also has racing brakes, steering, cooling and a host of other heavy duty items. Out on the public roads it’s me and my delivery vehicle, versus any number of scumbags. I eat health food and work out, day by day. The scumbags eat excrement and pimp for they mama at night. I win, nasty. The scumbags lose and their management is polite. If I have to kill a scumbag, as a last resort, I will. I didn’t kill a scumbag. last night, probably actually this morning. The scumbag committed suicide, trying to follow a professional while driving his scumbag amateur land yacht.”
Expensive suit boy says, “Devil, you are way out of line.”
The old man sighs and says, “He’sa straniero, he doesn’t understand our ways. He trusts nobody. He’sa little rough, but he gets the job done. He’sa like in the old days. Vito, who is he?”
Vito says, “Don Alfredo, he’s a hit man. He can think. He sets up an operation and then gets it done. No clues, except for a dead body.”
Expensive suit boy says, “Devil, you may get it done, but you need to soft pedal things here.”
I again ask, “Why did Max betray me? The reason or reasons are indeed business of mine.”
The other suit boy finally admits, “Max had a gambling problem. Likely he sold you out to maybe get some reward money from the police.”
